Whole Life Insurance in Leander

Whole life coverage has no end date. Keep paying for it and it stays with you, and most policies lock the premium the day you buy. We help you decide if it fits, compare carriers and stay your one contact after the policy shows up.

What whole life insurance is, and when it makes sense

Whole life is permanent insurance. It does not expire at 20 or 30 years like term life. On most policies the premium is set when you buy and does not go up as you age. Part of what you pay builds cash value, which grows slowly and which you can borrow against later.

It costs more than term for the same amount of coverage. That is the trade. For a lot of clients, term life is the better buy, and we will say so. Whole life earns its price when you need coverage that will still be there at 85, or you want a set amount to pass to a beneficiary no matter when you die.

You deal with one person the whole way. The agent who takes your first call is the one who runs the quotes, helps with the application and picks up the phone years later when you want to change a beneficiary.

What you get when we set up a whole life policy

  1. 01

    Your needs come first

Our first questions are about the people counting on you, the debts you owe and what you hope to pass on. Those answers set the coverage amount and tell us whether whole life is the right tool at all.

  2. 02

    Carriers compared side by side

We pull whole life quotes from more than one company and put them next to each other. You see the premium, the face amount and how the cash value is projected to grow on each.

  3. 03

Guaranteed and projected numbers kept apart

Whole life illustrations mix figures the carrier commits to with figures that depend on future dividends. We point out which column is which so you are not counting on money that may not show up.

  4. 04

Application and exam handled for you

We fill out the paperwork with you and set up the medical exam if the carrier wants one. When underwriting has a question, it comes to us first, and we follow up so you are not chasing anyone.

  5. 05

    Beneficiaries set up right

We help you name primary and backup beneficiaries and check the spelling and details. A missing backup or an outdated name is one of the most common reasons a claim gets slow.

  6. 06

    The same agent after delivery

When the policy arrives, we walk through it page by page. After that, questions about loans, beneficiaries or premium changes go to the same person who sold it.

When whole life is worth a serious look

  • No expiration date wanted

Term ends, often right when people are older and harder to insure. If the goal is a policy that pays out at 60 or at 95, whole life does that.

  • A dependent who will always need support

A child with special needs may count on outside money for decades. Whole life can fund a trust or care plan well past the age when a term policy would have run out.

  • You plan to leave a set amount behind

Some clients want to pass a fixed sum to kids or grandkids, or cover estate costs so heirs do not have to sell property. Permanent coverage makes that amount predictable.

  • Your business depends on you

Owners use whole life to fund buy-sell agreements or protect a business if a key partner dies. Coverage that does not expire matches a business you plan to keep running.

  • Your term policy is ending soon

If your term is a few years from expiring and you still need coverage, ask now. Your health today sets your rate, and conversion options on some term policies have deadlines.

How it works, from first call to signed policy

  1. 1

    First phone call

Start by telling us who relies on you and what you want covered. We'll go over how old you are, how your health has been and what fits your monthly spending. Nothing gets filed yet. It is just a straight talk about whether whole life makes sense.

  2. 2

    Quotes laid out

We come back with options from several carriers. We go over premium, face amount, payment schedule and cash value, and explain why one might suit you better than another.

  3. 3

    Application and underwriting

Once you pick, we complete the application together and schedule any exam or lab work. The carrier's review often runs several weeks. We check its progress and call you when something changes or a document is needed.

  4. 4

    Policy delivery and review

When the carrier approves, we review the final policy with you before you sign off. If the offer comes back at a different rate than quoted, we explain why and what your choices are.

What moves the price of whole life coverage

The carrier sets whole life premiums, not us. A few things decide where your number lands. We walk through each one with you so the price at approval matches what you were expecting.

Age when you buy
The younger you are, the lower the premium, and on most policies that rate holds for life. Waiting a few years costs more every month from then on.
Health and tobacco use
Blood pressure, weight, medical history and nicotine all change your rating class. Tobacco users can pay well over double what non-users pay.
Face amount
More coverage means a higher premium. We help you pick an amount that covers the real need without paying for coverage you will not use.
Payment schedule
You can pay for life, or pay higher premiums for a set period, like until 65 or for 20 years, and then owe nothing more. Shorter schedules cost more each year but less overall in many cases.
Riders you add
Options like waived premiums if you become disabled, or extra term coverage on top, add to the cost. We only suggest riders that match something you told us.

Whole life questions we hear most

Should I buy whole life or term life?

If you need coverage for a set stretch, like until the kids are grown or the mortgage is paid, term life usually costs far less. If you need coverage that lasts your whole life or want cash value, whole life fits better. Some clients do a mix. We will show you both and tell you which we would pick in your shoes.

Can I borrow against the cash value?

Yes, once it has built up, which usually takes several years. A policy loan does not need a credit check. Any unpaid loan plus interest comes out of what your beneficiary receives, so we go over the effect before you take one.

What if I can't keep up with the premiums later on?

Your choices come down to how much cash value has built up and what your contract allows. Many policies let you use that value to keep coverage going, trade down to a smaller paid-up policy that needs no more payments, or cash out. Talk to us before you skip a payment, so we can look at your policy and lay out each option.

Will the carrier want blood work or an exam?

For larger face amounts, usually yes. A paramedical examiner takes a few measurements and a blood sample at a time and place that suits you. Some carriers issue smaller whole life amounts based on health questions alone. We tell you which route applies before the application goes in.

What are dividends, and are they promised?

Some whole life policies pay dividends when the carrier does well. They are not promised. You can take them as cash, lower your premium or buy more coverage, and we explain each choice.

Who do I call after the policy is in place?

You call us, and you get the same agent you worked with from the start. Beneficiary changes, loan questions and annual reviews all go through one person.
